The Rocky Mountain GPA’s is excited to kick off the 2019 four-part training series:

A New Boom in Gas Processing in the Rockies: From Concept to Construction and Commercialization
First Quarter: Optimal gas plant design and process selection based on asset and technology constraints
Second Quarter: Overview of current and planned midstream infrastructure and services in the DJ Basin
Third Quarter: On-site tours of gas processing equipment fabrication and processing facilities
Fourth Quarter: Commercial and economic gas export opportunities from the Rockies
First Quarter Training

NGL Extraction Technology Selection

$50 TRAINING REGISTRATION (LIMITED TO 50 SEATS)

INCLUDES LUNCH & ADMISSION TO HAPPY HOUR

Part 1. Overview of NGL Extraction, asset constraints and technology selection

This presentation will introduce the overall natural gas value chain and illustrate how NGL extraction fits within the chain.  The primary focus will be what drives the final technology selection for the NGL extraction portion of gas processing facilities. Once the facility processing objectives are defined, an analysis of what type of NGL extraction technology will most economically meet those goals can be completed.  An overview and recovery comparison of the common NGL extraction technologies (refrig, JT, expander) will be provided from hydrocarbon dewpoint facilities, to open art and licensed deep NGL extraction technologies.  A high-level discussion of the impact of heat integration and rich versus lean gas processing will be provided from a process perspective.

Part 2. Case Study: SCORE Cold Plant Technology in the Bakken

Case Study describing the cold plant technology selection for high-BTU, sweet Bakken gas with the following criteria:

In lieu of maximizing C2 or C3 recovery, the only process objectives are to meet residue gas and NGL quality specifications
Maximize capital efficiency
Pursue operational flexibility and maintenance simplicity
Minimize physical footprint and maximize off-site fabrication
Session Objectives

Describe the Natural Gas Value Chain and how NGL Extraction fits in the value chain
What sets the constraints for new asset development or existing facility operation
Describe the typical specifications of the products leaving a natural gas processing plant.
Describe and compare different NGL Extraction Technologies
Discuss the impact of Heat Integration
List the impacts of processing rich versus lean gas
